Herbal Combination used to Treat Anxiety Disorders

Scientific Evidence from Clinical Trials

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, study involved 264 individuals with
generalized anxiety disorder of mild to moderate intensity. Participants
took a placebo or a combination therapy containing the 150 mg of
magnesium, 150 mg of hawthorn extract, and 40 mg of California poppy
extract twice per day for three months to determine if it reduced anxiety.
The results indicated that the herbal combination was more effective at
treating anxiety than the placebo. Furthermore, the herbal combination did
not produce any significant side effects (Hanus et al. 2004). This
combination therapy is currently being used to treat generalized anxiety in
